Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Military Members to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Community members assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the administration to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on television.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on a news show that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
