The former president's Family Member Gets Professional Tips from Golf Legend Woods Before LPGA Debut
The rising star maintains considerable online audience
The young golfer will have multiple prominent backers when she makes her first LPGA appearance on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, was granted a sponsor's invitation to compete at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, operates multiple international courses and frequently competes against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I can't say much but we have some close matches," she mentioned.
Kai explained that her grandfather, unable to come, advised her: "Simply stay calm."
"My grandpa essentially told me to compete and have fun," she added.
"From my perspective, he's just a regular grandfather. He's not attending for the tournament. He's busy with presidential duties, so he's rather occupied."
Being non-professional, the golfer has participated in a mere three competitions in 2024 and holds position 461 in AJGA listings.
Yet she's able to get advice from Tiger Woods, in a relationship with Vanessa.
"He is the greatest golfer worldwide," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's an even better person. He suggested me to go out there, have fun, and go with the flow."
She'll challenge multiple top competitors in professional golf at the Annika, such as second-ranked the champion, British Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.
Tournament organizers commented that Kai's presence helps introduce the sport to wider groups, especially among younger fans.
The young star maintains substantial online presence and has started her own fashion and living label.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
